Disney has announced further details on its upcoming Destination D23 event, taking place from Friday, September 8, 2023 to Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
The event is hosted by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club and will be the biggest Disney fan event of the year. Guests will journey through each era of Disney as they venture through the past century of storytelling and look forward to a boundless future for the company and its most devoted fans!
The last 100 years have been filled with hope, innovation and magic, all made possible by YOU, the ultimate Disney fans. Those in attendance can celebrate loved moments and memories with behind-the-scenes stories, special guests and performances. Get a glimpse of the company’s boundless future, be among the first to access exclusive shopping opportunities, and be in for a host of surprises at this fan-favorite event!
It’s worth noting that the Destination D23 event is very different from the D23 Expo event, which takes place in Anaheim, California. These two events take place alternately every two years. The Destination D23 event is generally much more focused on Walt Disney World, although the last event featured a small Disney+ presentation showcasing “Muppet’s Haunted Mansion.” It’s also taking place in a much smaller venue, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, rather than a massive exhibition center.
The presentation highlights of Destination D23 include:
- See Disney archivists, historians, imagineers, cast members, Disney legends and luminaries over two days of programming worthy of Disney’s first century – and beyond!
- Join Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro for a fun and entertaining presentation on what makes a Disney experience so magical and memorable for guests and fans around the world.
- Set the clock back to 1923 and learn about Walt and Roy Disney’s trip to California and the beginnings of The Walt Disney Company – from the Disney Brothers Studio to the Alice comedies, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and how everyone’s favorite mouse became a superstar became !
- Go crazy with the Walt Disney Archives and relive 100 years of Weird Disney moments in the centennial edition of a Destination D23 fan favorite!
- Journey through Disney’s tale of optimism and innovation with the people who are part of a rich history of storytellers and inventors, beginning with Walt Disney’s unrelenting optimism and spirit of innovation, and taking us to some of the bright minds shaping Disney’s boundless future .
- Down the rabbit hole and discover the “Disney You Didn’t Know” as The Walt Disney Archives uncover some of the most amazing Disney discoveries, connections and little-known facts that will change everything – or at least some things – you do thought you knew the Disney universe.

- A special exhibit from The Walt Disney Archives and Walt Disney Imagineering celebrates 100 years of Disney.
- Mickey’s of Glendale – Walt Disney Imagineering’s campus store returns with a pop-up shop at the event offering a selection of exclusive items Target D23 and Walt Disney Imagineering merchandise available for purchase. Swap Pins for this event will be offered to attendees via an RSP opportunity.
- The Walt Disney Company Store – For the first time, D23 Gold members on the East Coast have access to a pop-up version of the official Walt Disney Company Store, featuring both staff and D23 member exclusive merchandise! Please note that limited trading pins for this event will only be offered to attendees via an RSP opportunity.**
- Ink & Paint Marketplace – participants also have the opportunity to buy exciting products related to The Walt Disney Company on this marketplace of exclusive Disney partners!
Ticket sales for D23 Gold members begin March 14, 2023 at 10:00 am PT! The tickets cost:
- General: $329 (+$7 processing) per ticket
- Preferred: $549 (+$7 processing) per ticket
