With sports betting now legal in the state of Kansas, March Madness is big business for casinos. Workers at the Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, Kansas, prepare for a busy betting weekend. This is the first NCAA March Madness tournament where sports betting was legal and sports bettors are trying to make money. Add to that the fact that none of the local teams have been assigned Kansas City games, and fans are looking for more places to watch. The Hollywood Casino is fully booked on Friday – all seats are reserved. However, there are still some weekend places available at a great price. It costs $20 per seat and there is a minimum of four seats. “KU didn’t make it to the Kansas City area this year either, so it’s going to be crazy next week,” said Hollywood Casino Sportsbook Manager Tanner Rome. “They have a place to watch the game.” Casino officials said vacant seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. Books open at 9am and stay open until midnight, but kiosks are open 24 hours a day. In February, when the Kansas City Chiefs played the Super Bowl, wagering totaled more than $194 million.
