/PRNewswire/ — The top U.S. port by total revenue has partnered with nonprofit STEM organization Learning Undefeated to teach high school students about environmental sustainability through their latest innovation, Breakout Box: Environmental Mission. This new STEM program empowers and educates students on current environmental issues while opening up career opportunities in the energy industry.
STEM educators from the nonprofit partnered with subject matter experts from Port of
Corpus Christi
to customize this new experience that builds participants’ STEM skills through the lens of current environmental issues. Students explore a variety of environmental strategies and evaluate each strategy’s ability to meet the goals, while also considering criteria such as cost, impact on the local community, sea turtle migration patterns, and other ecological factors.

The Breakout Box: Environmental Mission is a brand new experience that is part of the
PORT enabled learning lab
, an immersive learning theater housed in a 22-foot traveling container. High school participants dive into an environmentally themed STEM adventure to build a new cargo ship dock, using computational thinking and the practices of science and engineering to solve a series of puzzles that help the environmental team brainstorm mitigation measures for a new one to decide dock location.
