RALEIGH, NC, March 8, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — triangle business journal (TBJ) recently announced the winners of its 2023 Women in Business Awards, naming Jama Campbell, Executive Director of the SECU Foundation of State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU), as the recipient.

Nominees for TBJ’s annual awards program sought women who have demonstrated dynamic and outstanding leadership and a proven track record of significant business and/or community service. Campbell received the recognition for her contributions to the SECU Foundation’s 2022 success, overall company growth, community engagement and other awards and achievements.

Under her leadership, Campbell nearly tripled her staff to build the foundation’s capacity, increasing funding coverage in all 100 counties of North Carolina, expanding her Mission Development Grant (MDG) program to help nonprofits build organizational capacity , and created and hosted the first MDG training and networking conference for program grantees. By the end of the year, 43 recommendations were approved by the SECU Foundation Board of Directors, representing over $21 million in funding for statewide initiatives that benefit North Carolina’s people and communities.
